We have uploaded our very first episode! We cover the John Boorman classic, "Excalibur". You can listen to it wherever you normally listen (or will be able to soon, Apple is a little finicky) If you use a podcast site that you don't see us on, let us know what it is so we can get our feed listed there. So, go click on the Eargasms page to access our shows. We really hope you don't hate it. All of the technical stuff should get better as we go along, trial and error, you know, I'm new to all of this stuff. Shown below are all of the movie posters we discuss on the show as well. So, in case you want to reference them, as you listen. Below is the YT video we talked about on the show with the "misheard" lyrics. It's really funny, give it a watch.

So, this is really real now. We recorded our first episode last night. Myself, Hassan Godwin and Latham Conger III were up into the wee hours of the morning last night working through some initial technical issues before landing solidly. We'll announce the subject of our inaugural episode soon. We are targeting this coming Monday the1st of June for the "goLIVE" date.
Our podcast format will be sort of broken into sections: A discussion of recent news stories from the entertainment world that we feel deserves nay, demands our attention due to the ridiculousness of it. We will then jump into the discussion of our feature film and finally we'll discuss the film's posters and promotional machine. We'll be adding the poster images here so folks can check them out and follow along with that part of that discussion once the shows are uploaded Once we have a few episodes "in the can", we will be having some special guests join us to discuss their favorite films and guilty pleasures. I'm really looking forward to people checking this out. We had a blast and can see the potential in it. I'm sure things will evolve as we move forward, but...well, I'll just leave it at that for now. See you all soon! So, while the rest of the world burns we're gonna take advantage of living in a world where (literally) anyone with a cell phone can start their own radio/television station. This decision immediately begs the question:
Is this a good idea? The answer is, truthfully, we have no clue. We do know this. There is no try. Do, or do not. We are choosing the former. My partner in crime on this venture is already an experienced co-host on another podcast Rogue Wave and just one of many things we have in common, besides our shocking good looks (you'll see soon enough), is our mutual love of movies. When we get together most other folks around fade into the background as we chat about what we've seen lately that we liked, what we hated, what we hated about what we liked, what we liked about what we hated...you get the picture. So, this baby was birthed from my guest appearance on the aforementioned podcast. I was told we would be discussing "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and it's proper place in the hierarchy of Indiana Jones films. Well, I spent several hours researching and re-viewing the film taking copious notes about the actors, background, anecdotes and production facts. I didn't want to be a deadbeat guest with nothing to add. When the time came to discuss the film, we ended up chatting for about 20-25 minutes or so about it and as the guest, most of what I had to say was personal opinion and shortly anecdotal. Now, let's be crystal clear here, I certainly don't blame my friends who run the podcast, I was merely mistaken in my understanding and expectation of how much time we'd spend on the film discussion. however, this left me with a wholly unfulfilled sensation that I didn't particularly care for. Since the recent world events, I have spent much more time on video calls, meetings and interviews for my publishing company, Printed in Blood. As a result, besides becoming more comfortable in front of a microphone and getting past the sound of my own voice, I have begun digging into the working parts of what's needed to produce a podcast and (mostly) discovering that we all have the basic tools in our hands already. So we talked about it and decided, why not? Certainly in this world filled with the critical dismantling of films in general, there must be room for a show where you can listen to room full of friends just talk about a movie they do or don't like and why. So, the plan is to bring friends aboard for our shows as well and we'll probably let some of them choose the film as well, which will add a sense of randomness to the show and make for a better all around film selection. Maybe if we get some folks actually listening, we'll ask them what we should tackle on our show, too. The list is pretty long already. We'll try and steer clear of our tried and true favorites at first probably, because it's low-hanging fruit, but we'll see how it goes. I'm kind of excited for this adventure and I'll just apologize right now for the first few shows while we get our bearings because I'm sure they will be...a little sketchy. But I hope anyone that takes the time to listen will stick with us for a bit. We're fun to hang around. Honest. |
